Updated Pay Scales for Officers and Staff – Effective 1 September 2026

In line with the Home Office announcement made in July 2026 confirming a 3.5% increase in police officer pay, we’re pleased to share updated starting salary details for police officers and staff at Thames Valley Police, effective from 1 September 2026.

Police Officer Pay

The new pay scale means that officers can expect to earn in excess of £55,000 after seven years.

Police constable and detective constable starting salaries will increase to £35,359. This is inclusive of a £3,105 South East allowance, and is paid to new recruits from their first day of training.

We are also proud to confirm that we will continue supporting military personnel transitioning into policing with our £2,500 resettlement payment.

Police Staff Pay

Police staff will also benefit from a 3.5% pay increase, with new starting salary details for selected staff roles listed below:
