Thames Valley Police (TVP) hosts recruitment events throughout the year. Offering an excellent opportunity to explore the career opportunities available within our force, our TVP recruitment events allow you to meet our colleagues and learn about their roles.

Whether you aspire to become a police officer or are interested in other roles within the force, our events provide a comprehensive look at what we offer, catering to a wide range of audiences, from recent school leavers to those considering a complete career change.

Calendar of events

TVP Open Day, 7 September, Sulhamstead

Location: TVP Training centre in Sulhamstead, near Reading.

Time and date: 10am – 4pm, Saturday 7 September.

We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Force Open Day! Last year, the event welcomed over 4,000 people across the course of the day who got to see what goes on behind the scenes at Thames Valley Police.

We aim to promote a greater understanding of the many departments and specialist teams within the force, whilst hosting a fun day out for all the family.

The Open Day is a free event and you do not need to book tickets so just come along with your family and friends! Parking will be provided on site, there will be one-way systems implemented for the purpose of the day to minimise traffic build up around the event.

Types of events we support

We also take part in a variety of events, including school, college, and higher education career fairs, as well as local community events for those considering a career change. The support we offer varies depending on the purpose of your event. If you need assistance in a different capacity, please contact our recruitment events team to discuss tailored ways we can support you.

While we strive to attend as many events as possible, operational commitments may sometimes prevent us from being present at every event. Please complete the event request form, and our team will be in touch.

Recruitment and Volunteering Events

We attend a wide range of events as we actively seek talent to join our force. They offer an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about serving their community to learn more about the various roles we have available.

Community Events

You will regularly find us at local community and faith-based events. These events often present opportunities for us to talk about careers within policing and how unique perspectives can enrich our team. We are working hard to better reflect the communities we serve - come along and say hello!

Schools and Colleges Events

For younger people searching for a career which offers variety, progression, and a sense of social responsibility, policing can be an excellent option. Our engagement with schools and colleges allow students to better understand the career paths available, and how they can make a difference.

Higher Education Events

With opportunities in both staff and uniformed roles, graduates can find a fulfilling and impactful career here at TVP. These events allow us to connect with ambitious individuals looking to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, where they can drive change.

Military Resettlement Events

We recognise the unique skills and experiences that military veterans bring to policing. We are committed to providing fulfilling career opportunities, in both staff and uniformed roles, allowing veterans to continue protecting our communities.
