Reflecting on Pride Month: Celebrating Together

During Pride Month, many of our colleagues proudly celebrated alongside the vibrant community at various events across Banbury, Oxford, Witney, Milton Keynes, and Reading.

These events presented a wonderful opportunity for our team to demonstrate their support and engage with local initiatives. From lively marches and parades to intimate community gatherings, our colleagues participated in diverse activities, celebrating the history and contributions of the LGBT+ community.

Our participation highlighted the progress made in the quest for equality and reaffirmed our commitment to diversity and inclusion within our workplace. It was truly inspiring to witness our colleagues coming together, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

A particularly moving story from this year’s Pride celebrations was shared by Jack, our colleague, who offered reflections on his personal journey.

“I took a risk, was petrified, and had no idea how to navigate it. But ten years ago, I came out for the first time as bisexual. Initially, I regretted this decision due to the negative reactions and fear of being seen differently. However, now I sit here thinking, ‘Yes, I am different, and I’m proud of it!

People fought and people died so that I could stand here today as a Proud Bisexual Man. I’m so thankful for the support I’ve received from the Men’s Forum and the LGBT+ staff support networks at TVP. These communities have been absolutely incredible and something I am proud to be part of. Be who you are, be proud, be supportive, and just be kind.”

We are proud to have been part of these meaningful celebrations and look forward to continuing our support for the LGBT+ community in the future. Together, we are dedicated to fostering a workplace where diversity is celebrated, and every individual feels valued and respected.
