Meet Neeta – Admin Support to Project Support Officer

Meet Neeta – Admin Support to Project Support Officer

How long have you worked for Thames Valley Police?

I’ve been here for 14 years now. Prior to TVP I’d only ever worked in the private sector. I worked in several TVP departments as a ‘temp’ before becoming a permanent member of staff.  I have really enjoyed my most recent role as Admin Support Officer or ASO for our Windsor & Maidenhead Local Policing Area.

What is your favourite thing about working for TVP?

The people! I’ve worked with a number of great senior teams. You have to learn to adapt, sometimes negotiate, and have a flexible approach. I’ve had good working relationships with them all. I also love being on the Executive of our Women’s Network – it never fails to surprise me how many people are prepared to go above and beyond the ‘day job’ here. It’s a pleasure to work with so many passionate people.

What is on your to-do list?

As an ASO my ‘to do’ list was never-ending, and you have to be prepared to drop everything if something urgently needs attention. My tasks range from routine deliverables like team meetings, minute taking, or reviewing Command Team diaries. I keep a look out on everyone’s wellbeing too, especially if someone is having a bad day. You are the first point of contact for your area, so you never know what you’ll get asked or when – you need to be OK with distractions.

What skills help someone success in administration in policing?

Strong organisational skills. Patience. Communication. Proactivity. Resourcefulness.
