Paws in Paris: Cody and Arlo Set to Sniff Out the Competition at the Paralympic Games

This week, Paris won’t just be welcoming the world’s best Paralympians, it’ll also welcome two of our police dogs – PD Cody and PD Arlo, along with their handlers PC Paul and PC Daniel – who will be swapping the streets of the Thames Valley for the bustling avenues of the French capital. But don’t expect these PDs to be showing off their pawtential in the high jump or tossing the javelin: their talents lie in sniffing out danger.

As part of the policing operation for the Paralympic Games 2024, Cody and Arlo are just two of many explosive search dogs working tirelessly to ensure the safety of spectators and athletes. These canine heroes may not win gold medals, but they’re certainly deserving of one.

As PC Paul puts it:

“It’s an honour and a privilege to represent UK policing as part of this operation for one of the greatest sporting events in the world.”

So, while the Paralympians will be vying for victory in the stadiums, Cody and Arlo will be quietly going about their business, ensuring everyone enjoys the games without a hitch. And who knows, perhaps a special medal for ‘Best in Show’ might just be in order for these four-legged champions!
