Celebrating our Police Staff at Thames Valley Police

police staffThis week sees forces across England and Wales come together to honour the contribution made by police staff for the NPCC’s National Week of Recognition and Celebration of Police Staff.

Launched by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), with support from the College of Policing, the first ever Police Staff Week of Celebration and Recognition hopes to shine a spotlight on the individuals who play a significant role within the policing landscape.

Police staff work hand in hand with our officer colleagues, as one team, enabling the delivery of our frontline service to the public every day of the year. With over 40% of our force made up of valued police staff, they make a difference across every department at TVP, this includes Local Policing, Contact Management, Criminal Justice, Force Crime, Governance & Service Improvement, Corporate Communications, People Directorate, Finance, Professional Standards, Transport and more. We hope that during this week we can raise the profile of the breadth of police staff work to the public.

Assistant Chief Officer Christine Kirby, Director of People, welcomed the week of celebration and encourages others to consider helping protect communities as a member of police staff:

“I’m proud to have enjoyed an excellent career with Thames Valley Police over the last 23 years. I joined TVP in 2001 and never expected to benefit from a varied and progressive career spanning over 20 years. My first role was the Business Manager for the Control Rooms (now Contact Management), and with support for study from TVP, I achieved my HR qualification and master’s degree in Managing Change.

“There are endless opportunities to become part of Thames Valley Police as police staff, and your contribution will be helping to make our communities safer. I encourage you to look at our open vacancies and start a career that makes a difference.”

The National Week of Recognition and Celebration of Police Staff also coincides with National Careers Week.
