Superintendent Cranidge awarded as a Member of the Royal Victorian Order

In the King’s New Year Honours list one of our senior officers has been awarded as a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO).

Superintendent Andy Cranidge has been awarded as a Member of the Royal Victorian Order for his work for the Coronation of HM The King in 2023.

Superintendent Cranidge was the tactical Commander for the policing operation surrounding the Windsor concert and celebrations.

Over 20,000 ticket holders attended the Coronation concert inside the grounds of Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May 2023 and a further 10,000 residents and visitors watched the event at a screening on the Long Walk in Windsor.

This role not only required strong leadership on this significant moment in history but also months of planning, testing and exercising to ensure the policing operation was appropriate and sufficient to allow such a momentous event to take place safely.

With numerous officers and staff working to him for the operation, his calm, considered and composed approach was key to its success, allowing tens of thousands of visitors to celebrate in Windsor while the eyes of the world were on the town.

Superintendent Andy Cranidge, said: “It is a privilege to have been awarded an MVO by His Majesty King Charles III for the work on the coronation. This prestigious recognition is not mine alone; I want to recognise and thank my colleagues who worked tirelessly to ensure the celebrations were safe and enjoyed by all.”

Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police Jason Hogg, said: “I am proud that Andy has been honoured with an MVO. The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla was a significant moment for the country and was a moment of huge pride for Thames Valley Police to support such a historic moment. Congratulations Andy on this incredible achievement from myself and the force.”
