Forensic Accreditation and Standards

Forensic accreditation and regulation ensure that the forensic services we deliver are robust and results are consistent – which allows us to deliver safe, reliable evidence to the Criminal Justice System. This is achieved through strict training and competency frameworks, validated procedures, equipment calibration, robust internal auditing, and independent external assessment and auditing by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

Based in our Kidlington Headquarters, the Quality Team is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of forensic accreditation and regulation across our Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU).

The team of Quality and Performance Officers is led by a Quality and Performance Supervisor, and overseen by a Quality and Performance Manager. Between them, they have a vast knowledge and understanding of forensic accreditation, and how to apply it across the many disciplines we have within TVP.

Their role is to ensure that forensic activities are carried out in accordance with the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and Conduct, which mandates that such activities be compliant with international Standards (ISO17020 and ISO17025) and many other supporting regulatory documents.
