Running Together for a Great Cause: How Our Colleagues Turned a Wellbeing Challenge into Something More
When colleagues come together with energy, positivity and a shared goal, amazing things can happen. One of our foundation training groups recently proved exactly that, transforming a simple wellbeing challenge into a powerful demonstration of teamwork and support for a charity close to their hearts.
In their very first week of training, the group set themselves a goal: run 13km each week to build their fitness, look after their wellbeing and form healthy habits from day one.
What started as a straightforward fitness target quickly grew into something much bigger.
By week six, the team were not only hitting their distances, but they were also exceeding them. Encouraged by their progress and the motivation they found in each other, the group began asking how they could use this momentum to do something meaningful for others.
They decided to finish their course with one final shared run at Dorney Lake, a moment to celebrate how far they’d come. But they didn’t want it to be just a run. They wanted it to have purpose.
The group chose to fundraise for the National Deaf Children’s Society, a charity that holds personal significance for team members and whose work strongly resonated across the group. The charity supports children with hearing loss and their families, offering guidance, community and the confidence to thrive. Inspired by this mission, the team set themselves a fundraising target they felt proud of.
On 18 January, the group completed their final run together at Dorney Lake. The atmosphere was one of genuine support, colleagues encouraging one another, running alongside teammates who needed a boost, and celebrating every finish with a real sense of achievement.
It didn’t matter who was the quickest or who had the most running experience. What stood out was the way they showed up for one another, proving how strong a team can become when everyone brings encouragement, positivity and belief.
The group’s efforts inspired support from colleagues, friends and families, so much so that they exceeded the fundraising goal they originally set for the charity. Their achievement went far beyond the distance they covered. They created a moment of connection, positivity and impact that reflects the very best of who they are as a team.
